Dear Norton
Thank you for your letter of March 18, received today. Unwin is still away, so I had not previously seen your letter to him. In the main, I like your scheme for a book, and am quite willing to write on “Education and the Social Order”. I can undertake (barring illness) to let you have the MS. during July. The advance you offer is, I know, all that is warranted by the present state of affairs. I suppose I may assume that the contract for the book on the 19th century stands, except that the date is advanced by twelve months. I want that to be a really good book, into which I shall have put twelve months’ work. — My secretary is away; I hope you can read my handwriting. All best wishes.
Yours v. sinc.
Bertrand Russell.
