On the verso are notations in Edith Russell's hand, including a list of books. The notations are a list of nights: "1 Tuesday night 2 Wednesday night", etc., with a check mark beside each of the first 5.

Surely this is a reckoning of the passage of time during Edith's imprisonment. The books appear to be chiefly mysteries. Two are checked.

Open letter headed "Letter from Bertrand Russell on Committal to Brixton Prison: 12.9.61", signed by BR. Attached is a typed mimeo of the letter, not signed by BR, with more frequent paragraphing.

BR's manuscript of the letter is at RA1 220.024500. The paragraphing matches that of the signed typescript.
