To the Editor of The Times
Sir,
As Socialists and supporters of the Government, we write to express our indignation at the way in which Field Marshals Rundstedt, Brauchitsch, and Manstein are being treated, and to associate ourselves with letters previously addressed to you on this subject by Dr Gilbert Murray, Captain Liddell Hart, Mr T.S. Eliot, Sir Osbert Sitwell, and others.
The wretched facts are now familiar to your readers, and need not be rehearsed. We wish, however, to record our shame that so grave an affront to the national traditions should be committed by a Labour Government.
Yours, etc.,
Russell
