Dear Miss Somerville
Thank you for your letter. I should like to do what you ask, if, after thinking it over, I felt that I could manage it, but I think that sort of talk is very difficult.1 Would it be possible for Mr. Rowan Davies, whom you mention, to come to see me before I give a definite answer? He could help me to decide whether I should be competent to do it.
You do not tell me what the fee would be. Perhaps you could let me know, though this is not what would decide me. I do very genuinely feel that the sort of talk about mathematics that you have in mind is far from easy.
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
