Dear Clive
Thank you for your letter. It will be a very great pleasure to see you again, but I should greatly prefer it if you could come here to tea one day during your stay, both because there is more privacy, and because my wife would also enjoy seeing you, and is prevented by war-time household ties from going out except on rare occasions. May 11 I shall be away, but the 8th, 9th, or 10th would suit. Do come. If you will, I will send you directions.
I have not seen nearly as much of old friends since my return from America as I could wish, and I shall very greatly enjoy seeing you. Parts of my Odyssey would amuse you.
Yrs ever
B.R.
