Thank you for your nice letter; I was afraid my comments might have annoyed you. As for Shakespeare (p. 207), there are, it is true, qualifying phrases, but you certainly imply that anybody can become Shakespeare by adequate work. This I doubt. The other points are matters of opinion — e.g. as to general ideas, my views are tentative and probably wrong.
I don’t imagine you feel omniscient; I was making a merely stylistic remark. You needn’t worry abut the possibility of my feeling irritable with you — I don’t. I like the feel of your mind, and I think your self-assertiveness is necessary if you are to have sufficient drive.
