  [recipient] The Swedish poet and author Anders Österling (1884–1981) was elected to the Swedish Academy in 1919 and remained a member until his death sixty-two years later. In 1950 he was permanent secretary of the body that selects the Nobel Prize winner for literature and delivered the presentation address for BR at the awards ceremony in Stockholm on 10 December.
