Aside from pronouncing "God" as "Gard", "... the poor Jesuit was not such a bad fellow. All he said came from St. Thomas, and conditioning had made him unable to doubt the seraphic doctor."

My dear Elizabeth1
How perfectly delightful to get such a very nice letter from you! It has given me a really intense pleasure. I agree with you whole-heartedly about “Gard” — if I were He, I should not admit to heaven any one who couldn’t pronounce My name. Otherwise the poor Jesuit was not such a bad fellow. All he said came from St. Thomas, and conditioning had made him unable to doubt the Seraphic Doctor.
I was very sorry to make Rupert ring off last night, particularly as he was saying such pleasant things — but I had been trying to get Peter, to whom I had business things to say, and the operator broke in frantically saying he had got her. I hope you and Rupert won’t be discouraged, and will ring up again. I am almost always in after 8:30, except Weds. and Thursdays.
The best way to arrange for me to come alone during Easter vacation will be for Rupert to say he wants to discuss points of shop; then I shall be able to come often, which I very much want to do.
Best love, dear Elizabeth.
