Dear Bill,

Thank you for your letter, which has just come. Peter and I will come with pleasure for the week-end of November 3rd, arriving on the Saturday and leaving on the Tuesday, and I will gladly speak on 3rd about the international situation,1 provided you are not afraid that the extremely gloomy character of my remarks will lead to an epidemic of suicide. I do not know whether it is convenient for you that we should stay with you, but if it is in the slightest degree inconvenient could you get us accommodation in the hotel?

I am glad to hear that Conrad is getting on well. It does not worry me at all that he should wish to be a boat builder and boat man in the Isle of Man.

My toe is now recovered. I was amused by the association of ideas causing the transition in your letter from toe, the pedal appendage, to Toe, the lady.

Love to you both,

Yours ever,
<signed> B.R.
