C.S. Wauchope Esq.
Dear Sir,
My husband has asked me to return your M.S. and to express his regret that he cannot read it. In the first place he is at present in poor health after several attacks of influenza and a prolonged spell of intense overwork, and is therefore obliged to do nothing that he can avoid for the next month, and to a great deal less than he has been doing for the rest of his life.
In the second place, he asks me to say that he is not a physicist, but only a philosopher who has got up a certain amount of physics.
Yours truly,
<signed> Patricia Russell.
