"I like the Labour government except on Palestine. The state of the world is awful—what the Russians and Poles are doing to Germans is quite as bad as anything the Germans did. I see hardly any hope of our not being all atomized within a few years. England will certainly be wiped out. Moriturus te saluto."

Dearest Miriam
It was very nice to get a letter from you. I hope all continues to go well with you. We flourish — our boy Conrad grows in wisdom and stature — John is in Washington, where he was sent by the British Navy to decipher Jap documents, but he will probably be moved to the Far East soon. Kate has accepted a fellowship at Radcliffe, and will go there as soon as she can get a passage, which may be another 6 months.
I like the Labour Govt. except on Palestine. The state of the world is awful — what the Russians and Poles are doing to Germans is quite as bad as anything the Germans did. I see hardly any hope of our not being all atomized within a few years. England will certainly be wiped out.
Moriturus te saluto.
Love
