Dear Kate
Peter tells me she has written you an angry letter. I am sorry she has, and have let her know that I do not approve. It is, however, very awkward if she continues hostile to you, so I hope you will be able to make a conciliatory answer containing some sort of apology.
Whatever happens, I am determined that friction between her and you shall not affect relations between you and me. If she doesn’t want you, or you don’t want to stay in her house, I can put you up in a hotel and entertain you in College — but to get a room in a hotel I must have a week’s notice.
However, it will be much better if you can write her a letter that will cause her anger to diminish.
Write soon to let me know about it all. Love.
Yrs aff
Diddy
