My dear Kate
Thank you for your very nice letter. I am glad you have made up your mind about England, but sorry Amiel is so remiss.
This is to say: will you write me a letter soon, addressed to Peacock Inn, Princeton, saying you have decided to go home, as if you were saying it for the first time, and so written that I can show it to Peter? She must know your decision, and I don’t want to show her your last letter, (a) because you would not want her to see your criticism of Amiel, (b) because she would take your saying I am kind as criticism of herself.
Glad you have jobs. Good luck to your thesis. All well with us. Much love
Yr. aff
