My dear Kate

I wrote in a hurry yesterday and therefore rather baldly. Your problem is a horrid one. When you are of age, which is soon, you can come back to America as soon as the British Government will let you — probably you could wangle some job in America. Till you are of age I don’t see how you can get out of coming home. Don’t underestimate his mother’s desire to injure you.

This address is fairly permanent so you can send the photograph here. It is a pity Conrad’s present is lost — the fault is ours.1

At present I am in New York every Tuesday and Wednesday night.

I like to be bothered by your problems and I am glad you can write frankly. I am only concerned to remind you of arguments of prudence — God knows, they never affected me when I was in love, but they ought to have.

Your aff father
Diddy

The fault is ours. Kate’s letters are not available, so these bits of business are impossible to explain.
