Dear Gilbert,

Thank you for your letter. I agree with every word that you say about population, and I shall be dealing with this subject in my fourth broadcast. There, however, I shall have to be brief. I enclose a whole lecture on the subject, which I have delivered many times in Australia and America. I am sending it to you in order that you may realise how much I agree with you and with Boyd Orr.

I will admit that my optimism is an act of will, and I could just as rationally proclaim pessimism — not more rationally, and, I think, less usefully.

Please send me back the enclosed lecture, before or after reading it.

Yours ever,
B.R.

P.S. Sorry about the blisters!
