BR TO GILBERT MURRAY, 18 MAR. 1945
BRACERS 52409. ALS. Murray papers, Bodleian

Dear Gilbert

I am very sorry indeed to hear that Mary has been so ill. Please give her my very best wishes.

With regard to Problems of Philosophy, I am in a difficulty. The views I hold now are not very seriously different from those I held in 1911, but are much more difficult to express lucidly. I am afraid that a revision would spoil the book. So I incline to the view that it should be reprinted unchanged. If that is done, it obviously expresses my views in 1911. But if I start bringing it up to date, it will involve a pretty complete re-writing, and in the end produce a less readable book. What do you think?

Yours ever
B.R.
