On contracts. BR can increase Authority ms. from 27,000 to 40,000 words. Nothing in the Observer profile [by R. Crawshay-Williams] should be used without BR's sanction.

Dear Mr. Unwin
Thank you for your letter. I had no objections of detail to the draft agreement that Sir Stanley sent me, except that I asked him, and he agreed, to restore the payment to me on translations to 90%. But I should wish the agreement to state that half of any payments due under it should go to my wife, and I should like it stated that this is because of her collaboration.
The MS of the lectures is about 27,000 words, and I gathered from Sir Stanley that he wanted additions to bring it up to 40,000. But for this, I could let you have the MS now. The additions, however, will take me about a fortnight.
I am glad to hear you have made such satisfactory arrangements.
Yours sincerely
Russell.
P.S. I don’t mind your using the Observer photograph, but please don’t use, without my sanction, anything said in their “Profile”.
