BR TO ALLEN AND UNWIN, [12 AUG. 1947]
BRACERS 48100. ALS(X). George Allen and Unwin Ltd.
Proofread by K. Blackwell

Messrs Allen & Unwin

Dear Sirs

Will you inform Mr Allawag that there were two St. Augustine’s,1 as he could have discovered from the index. I had supposed the fact too well known to be worth mentioning.

I have no view as to the man whose application to translate my History I enclose.

Yours faithfully
Bertrand Russell

two St. Augustine’s The second was St. Augustine of Canterbury. In the passage concerned (p. 406 of the UK edition), Russell does not distinguish him from St. Augustine of Hippo.
