I enclose Simon and Schuster’s index.1 It seems to me unduly elaborate, and I have deleted many things I thought unnecessary. (I have no control over the way it will appear in USA; the deletions are only for the English edition.) I am prepared to accept in advance any further deletions you may suggest.
