Dear Warder
Thank you for your letter of July 26. We are both very glad indeed about Polly.
The length of the book is about one hundred and ten thousand (110,000) words. I am sorry my previous attempt was undecipherable.
I enclose a letter from Unwin, chiefly because of what he says about the title! As for Canada, I did not think he would want it in these days of submarines and aeroplanes. But I did not mean to make a permanent departure from previous arrangements — i.e. as regards subsequent books.
I hope you will enjoy your ranch as much as we enjoy this place. But for the war and the prospect of penury, we should be blissfully happy.
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
