Bertie was delighted with your telegram, which he received in bed — where he is enjoying a mild attack of ’flu.

We were very gratified to see that you had been busy on his behalf among the publishers. Altogether we have been made very happy by the whole affair. It isn’t often that embattled evil is formally defeated. Though we may be rejoicing too soon.
