Dear Warder
Thank you for your letter of Feb. 14. You will no doubt have followed the business of ousting me from the City College. This means, of course, that after my lectures at Harvard end I shall be desperately poor. I shall have to try to write books that will sell!
I find “Language and Fact” not wholly descriptive of the book as it is becoming. “Language, Fact, and Truth” would be more descriptive, but doesn’t seem a very good title. I should like to have some notice before you make any announcement of the book, so as to think up a good title. Do you consider “Language and Fact” attractive? The book will only appeal to people with some competence in philosophy. I believe we have no contract for this book. Would it deserve an advance, or do you think the sale would be too small?a
The history of philosophy will entail a good deal of work, but I hope to make it such as universities will use as a text-book. I wanted to make my pupils here read my book Philosophy but was told it was out of print, which I had not remembered.
Best greetings to you both.
Yours sincerely
Bertrand Russell.
