Dear Warder
Thanks from us both for the two cheques. I wonder how you knew about “Amberley House”; we had only settled on this name 3 days before you wrote.
I am glad to hear part of the 10% is going to authors. Will you tell me just how much will come to me? Of my American earnings, 10% goes to your navy, 25% of the remainder to ours, and 33.3% of the rest to my late wife.2 The result is that I get 45 cents in every dollar.
My lectures on Power have begun, and go well. Of the book, I have about 50,000 words done, so I ought to be sure of finishing it in time for next autumn. It is 2 things: (1) Machiavelli up to date (2) a refutation of the theory that economics is a separate science. I consider that, in economics, too little attention has been paid to the highwayman.
I am glad to hear you are still advertising the Amberley Papers.
All good wishes to you both from us both.
Yours sincerely,
Bertrand Russell.
