Dear Warder

Through a series of complicated circumstances which I will explain when I see you, I became obliged to give Macmillans the option on a book I have just written, Which Way to Peace? I think they may not want it, (a) because it deals much more with English than with American conditions, and (b) because, in the event of conscription, it incites readers to break the law. I have asked them, if they don’t want the MS, to send it straight to you. It is to be published here by Michael Joseph. 50,000 words; very topical. He hopes to publish in earlya November. I don’t know in the least whether you would like it. The whole thing was sudden, owing to the political situation.

Yours sincerely
B.R.
