Dear Warder,
Thank you for your letter of December 21st. I am interested in what you say, but on the whole I am inclined to think that it would be best to stick to the plan of publishing the whole book at once. Stanley Unwin much prefers this plan, and I like it better myself except for its economic inconveniences.
The book in question, The March of Democracy, is evidently one that I shall have to read for the purposes of my book. I wonder whether Scribners could be induced to give it to me, on the understanding that it is to be mentioned in my book?
I have not yet had any brilliant inspirations for the title of my book. I dare say you will think of something very good. Unless prevented by unforeseen circumstances, I am confident of getting the book finished by net Christmas. Let us hope that by then the world will be creeping out of its depression.
Best New Year wishes to you both,
Yours ever,
Bertrand Russell.
