Dear Countess Zeppelin
I am deeply sorry not to have answered your earlier letter, but the General Election took up all my spare time.
I am afraid I cannot undertake a preface to my Problems of Philosophy; it would be difficult, since I should have to say where my views have changed. And I find in this time so much to do that seems utterly urgent and concerned with matters of immediate importance that I am very careful as to what work I undertake beyond what is necessary for earning my living.
I am very sorry about all your troubles. You should not apologize for mentioning them. There is such an accumulation of disasters in the world that one feels powerless and paralysed.
I am no longer at Cambridge, and the above is my best address.
With all good wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Russell.
