"... yours is the last voice of your generation which still rings out true."

It's a long time since Keene saw BR and would like to see him again before his return to the U.S. Would BR like a copy of Keene's new book on the Japanese interest in Europe during the 18th century?

Keene has been "in mortal terror" of being called up for service in Korea. (Keene has served in WWII.)

"I enclose a copy of the letter which BR is sending to Lionel Bart, who has just written him about Satan in the Suburbs. Bart is preparing a one page outline of his conception for dramatic presentation of this story. ... Lionel Bart's publicity man has already splashed this story to the Daily Mirror which did a big show biz column on the dynamic duo—Bart and Russell. Joking aside, I think this could be quite a big thing."

Enclosed is a TL(X) from BR to Lionel Bart dated 1967/11/09.

Re John Lennon's condemnation in the press of the British Government's role in the wars in Vietnam and Biafra.

Thanks for parcel of gifts

4295

A Christmas card with "War Is Over" printed on the front and a handwritten message to BR on the back.

Dated from the previous and next letters to John Lennon and Yoko Ono; and from the apparent fact that they weren't together in previous years.

The card was reproduced by McMaster University Library as its Christmas card in 2015. A copy is filed with the original.
