BR TO GILBERT MURRAY, 2 MAR. 1911

My dear Gilbert

Very many thanks for the Oedipus, which I have read with great enjoyment. I waited to write till I had had time to read it, which was not immediately, as I have been overwhelmed with work. It is astonishingly good as drama, but the Choruses have not the poetry of the Euripides ones.

The only sensible person is Jocasta, who reminds me of Gina in The Wild Duck. I wish I knew what the Sphinx’s riddle was and what was the answer. If I had been Oedipus I should have got bored with being always reminded of it.

I shall arrive at 4.27 (L.H.W.) on Saturday.

Yrs ever
Bertrand Russell.
