Dear M. Berger,
Thank you for your letter of 6th May, which I have just received. I am sorry that there has been some confusions<sic>. When I spoke to the Cultural Attaché I thought, mistakenly, that he was enquiring about subjects for Paris. In view of your letter, and in order to avoid further confusion, will it be satisfactory to arrange as follows: Aix — “Mind and Matter”,1 Marseilles — “Physics and Experience”?
I gather from your letter that the University of Aix is doing me the great honour of conferring a Doctorate honoris causa,2 of which I had not before heard anything. If this is correct, will you kindly convey to them my gratitude and thanks.
Yours very truly,

Aix — “Mind and Matter” This “Mind and Matter” may not be the paper with the same title as 35 in Collected Papers 11, whose headnote states it was written in 1950. A “Mind and Matter” paper was also given in Stockholm in May 1948 (see record 19842).
