The letter concerns a speech BR will give at a meeting organized by Davies. BR and Edith will be staying at the Belle Vue Royal Hotel that night and then going to London. BR would be grateful for a ride from Plas Penrhyn to Aberystwyth. He would prefer to speak early on in the meeting to "diminish the fatigue of the occasion".

Dear Mr. Davies,
Thank you for your letter of April 22. I shall be accompanied by my wife, but by no one else. We have booked a room in the Belle Vue Royal Hotel for the night and shall be going on next morning to London by train. We are grateful for the offer of transportation by car from here to Aberystwyth,a and would be glad to know what time you wish us to start from here. Thank you for your kind offer to arrange a meal, but I do not think this should be necessary as we can get some supper in the hotel after we return from the meeting.
Would it be compatible with your plans for the meeting to have me speak rather early and leave the hall when my speech is finished? If this is possible, it would greatly diminish the fatigue of the occasion. How long do you wish me to speak?
Yours very truly,
<signed> Russell
