Dear Céleste

Thank you for your little letter. You do tempt me by your invitation — but I shall not be in France unless possibly with an American lady, who might think I ought not to wish to see any other. The lady would be the one I told you of on the boat; but it is doubtful.

I have written you official letters about Jackie; the confinement in hospital was obviously bad for her. Betty, by the way, is pregnant, and may be less excellent than usual. If she tells you, please take it as news.

I should love to see you. I think of you very often with feelings of warm friendship.

Yours
B.R.
