Dear Mrs. Holden,
Many thanks for your cheque for £22.7.0 duly received. We will add the 10d. to your term’s bill. There were no further developments of chicken pox, and Jackie herself recovered quickly; she has been very well indeed ever since.
I am glad you will be able to meet Jackie in Paris, and unless we write or wire to the contrary she will arrive at the Gare St. Lazare at 10.18 a.m. on the 21st from Havre. I am glad to learn that your father is improving.
The clothes that you sent from America for Jackie arrived safely without being taxed by the customs. With regard to her clothes for next term, she needs some woollen combinations and woollen stockings; her outdoor clothes will be quite warm enough for the whole winter. Jackie would very much like to have a pair of Wellington boots, as nearly all the other children have them, and they are very useful for running across to the new bungalow classroom in wet weather.
Yours sincerely,
<signed> Bertrand Russell.
