Dear Professor Perry
I have received with much pleasure your and your collegues’ book2 on the New Realism. So far I have only had time to look it through, but I see that it is full of interest, and I shall read it carefully as soon as possible. I observe that it combines a logic that I heartily agree with and a metaphysic derived in the main from W. James, according to which the old dualism of mind and matter is a mistake. So far I have not been able to agree with this metaphysic, but I am open to conviction; it is only in logic that I have really decided opinions.
I am sending you an offprint of a discussion in Paris, in which I proposed the name “analytic realism”, which I found also suggested in your book.
Yours very truly
Bertrand Russell.
