"The Literary Supplement is a most dishonest publication. It dislikes me on religious grounds, being Catholic or Anglo-Catholic. Its chief argument for Christianity is that it is fashionable."
The Duchess of Atholl "is virtuous, dowdy, and industrious; you would never guess that she is a Duchess".

Dear Freda
Peter has asked me to answer your letter. I am sorry about Allen & Unwin, and will write to them. But I think you would do better to go to Gollancz. The book is more ina his line, and if we bully Allen & Unwin into publishing they will not rush the book. If Allen & Unwin can’t be budged, shall I write to Gollancz? I will gladly.
The Lit. Sup. is a most dishonest publication. It dislikes me on religious grounds, being Cath. or Anglo-Catholic. Its chief argument for Xtianity is that it is fashionable.
To the Duchess of Atholl you begin “Dear Duchess”. She is virtuous, dowdy, and industrious; you would never guess that she is a Duchess.
You didn’t tell what my mother wrote about the Forbes’s. Please do. Your book has just come but I haven’t had time to read it yet. I am sure to agree with it.
It will be lovely if you come to England and we see you again.
Yours ever
BR
