My dear Elizabeth
Thank you for your two letters — I meant to have answered the first at once, but was very busy. I sat next Julian’s father-in-law in Hall last night and we talked about Shiffolds. — We have bought a small house, but can’t get into it for another month; meanwhile Peter and Conrad are in a boarding house. I am afraid none of us can come to Shiffolds at present as there are masses of things to do both in connection with the house and with proper work. But we hope and intend to come, if you can have us, when private and public matters have grown more settled. — I haven’t yet heard from your Chinese friend;1 I expect I shall soon. — The BBC doesn’t want me, but I am to lecture at Trinity, which I prefer —
I enjoyed my visit immensely — it was a great joy seeing you and Bob again. Much love.
Yrs ever
B.R.
