Dear Gilbert,

In reply to your letter of the 25th October, I know nothing whatever about “Prométhée”, except that I have just this moment, for the first time, seen various letters, one from you and two from the promoters, the latter inviting me to become a member of their Committee and to recommend them to you and Galsworthy. These letters were acknowledged by my wife, but not forwarded to me in America. They had, therefore, no right whatever to say that I had consented to serve on their Committee. I wonder whether the other names that they use to recommend themselves are used as unjustifiably?

Yours ever,
Bertrand Russell.
