Dearest Alys

Thank thee for thy letter. It is good of thee to write as thee does, and gives me happiness.

When I was young I was an appalling prig. Now I am less virtuous but also less self-righteous.

I certainly won’t forget May 18. Whether I shall be able to come before that I don’t yet know.

Thine ever
B
