Monday
Dearest Alys
Thanks for letter to Camberly. I had a very pleasant visit and liked Pope-Hennessy greatly. He is an able man, who has studied the history of war and has much to say about it. Altogether it seems very satisfactory. He is a Home Ruler, and Liberal generally.
No, we were not rated more than usual this year.
I shall be speaking every night from now till Dec. 9, except Thursday when I have my evening. I am speaking once for Buckmaster, once for the N.U. at Ely (in support of Rose), and the other evenings for Montagu.1 As I still have lectures and proofs, I shan’t have much time to spare, and I think it would hardly be any good for thee to come over after all.
Thine aff
Bertie
