[Alys has dated this card "Aug. 8" but this seems wrong as it was pmk. 18 Aug. when it arrived in England.]

I got thy card this morning at Cortina, it had not yet arrived when I asked for it yesterday. I was very glad to get news and to know that nothing particular had happened. In about a couple of days we shall be at Boxen. Today I went up a minor Dolomite (8400 ft.) from which I got a magnificent panorama as Baedeker had promised. Sanger gets ill at great altitudes so he waited for me on a pass some distance below the top. Today has been our first really fine day since we started walking. In the hottest part of the day it was rather pleasanter in the shade than the sun, whereas previous days have been too cold for sitting out. The Dolomites are interesting, and I enjoy them.
