BR TO ALYS RUSSELL, [31 JULY 1909]
BRACERS 21079. ALS. McMaster
Proofread by K. Blackwell

July 31. 1909.
Sat. between Chaumout and Belfort.

Dearest Alys

All well so far, except that our train is 50 minutes late, which makes it impossible to go on to the Lake of Constance tonight. There is an immense crowd, mostly Polytechnics. I have never seen a boat so crowded as we were last night, but fortunately the water was smooth. My train was very late getting to Paddington, so I was glad I hadn’t taken the later one.

Thine aff.
Bertie
