Loch Maree Hotel
Ross Shire
Sunday morning.
Dearest Alys
At Kinlochewe they had no room for us, so we came on the extra 9 miles to here after tea. It was a lovely walk along the Loch. Today it is wet, and useless for going up Slioch, so we shall go on to beyond Gairloch, getting to Ullapool probably tomorrow. Crompton continues as witty and jolly as possible — he chaffs Arthur in the most inimitable manner.
I will wire addresses when I know them — today one can’t wire. Crompton makes one exert oneself; yesterday we walked 20 miles, and tomorrow we expect to do 24. I hope thee is having a successful time at Bellshill, and that Kirkby will be pleasant.
Thine aff
Bertie.
