PRINCE OF WALES’ LAKE HOTEL
GRASMERE
Tuesday1
Dearest Alys
I am very sorry Mariechen is so done up, and also that Karin’s hearing is so bad and that she still has to have something more done to her ear. North doesn’t realize, I think, that there is any danger to lungs — they are at present perfectly sound, only there is risk. When thee sees him, don’t sympathize — that is not at all what is wanted.
Yesterday we had a pleasant day on Windermere. Today it seems wet, but we are going for an all-day walk all the same. Address here until further notice. Seatoller is full up and they can’t take us.
Thine aff.
Bertie.
