BAGLEY WOOD,
OXFORD.
Friday night
Dearest Alys
The meeting went off all right. There was a good attendance: many ladies, to my surprise, including Ray and Karin. I was rather heavy, being a little too dependent on my notes, and tired. Also my speech only took 35 minutes. Afterwards we had questions, which I enjoyed, but no set speeches. Keeley or Keeling, or whatever his name is, was at dinner: he is one of the young Trinity Socialists. I liked him immensely, and thought him vigorous, but not very able. I have scarcely seen the Verralls — they went to bed before I got home.
Miss Harrison has sent me a note containing the pressing news that the Orphics thought the universe was a bad egg laid by a Divine Goose, and allowing me to make what use I please of the information.
I saw Mary yesterday and found her fairly cheerful.
All well.
Thine aff
Bertie.
