My dear Alys

I am very sorry indeed to hear of thy loss. The telegram and letter only reached me this morning. When thee wrote that it was not a stroke I supposed there was no danger, so it was a shock. I am glad there was no pain.

If thee telegraphs, I will come to Court Place at once. In any case I will come to Golder’s Green if thee will let me know when to come. I would rather come.

Thine aff
Bertie
