My dear Alys

I am very sorry indeed to hear of thy mother’s having had a stroke, and I hope it is not so serious as it sounds. I shall be anxious to hear how she progresses.

I will attend to what thee says about the books. Would thee not like to have the history? The poets that are mine I should rather like to keep, but the rest I will send to thee.
