My Darling1
I had just finished a letter to Conrad when I got yours of March 18. I am very glad the house is so nice — I am impatient to see it. My lectures here have attracted huge crowds, to the open bewilderment of McKeon and Perry. The first day they had to move me to a bigger hall, but explained to me that the crowd must be due to people expecting me to talk politics. The second day there was an equal crowd, so they again had to move to a different hall at the last minute.
Tomorrow and Fri. night I am at the Commander Hotel, Sat. and Sun. at the Lafayette, Mon. and Tues. at Northampton,2 Wed. at Mrs. Clark’s, 1 Sutton Place South. On Thursday, thank God, I get home — I shall come by the Duquesne.
What a foul story about us at the party for Whitehead! I feel really angry about it. I am glad you were like Q. Victoria about it.
Haste. All my love, Darling. All goes very well with me —
Your
B.
I read your letters carefully but haven’t time to answer about everything.
