Monday

My Darling Love1

Thanks for envelope, hankies etc. I am glad to know you are coming Thursday and will be here for your birthday. I will come to meet you, and John and Kate will still be up when you arrive. I think I had better not bring John, don’t you? Is Sands coming?

Yesterday was one of the loveliest days I have ever known here, warm and bright with very little wind. I took John to Nangizal2a and we were both very happy. There is sand there this year at low tide. I work hard at my ABC book, writing 2400 words a day, which means 20 days for the whole. I am a little afraid it is not easy enough, and also afraid it will be too short. But I dare say it will be all right. It is annoying about Hypatia and the binders’ strike. I wanted you to have it for your birthday present from yourself.

Kate is very well and lively, and very clever. She and John play together entrancingly. I really think she is putting on weight now. You must be dreadfully tired — I hope you will sleep a lot when you arrive. I do long for you Dearest.
