My Darling Love1 —
Hastings are sending a new hood, so all is well. — Kate has started picking at her eye-lashes as you used to do. It is a remarkable example of an inherited trick, because I don’t think you have ever done it since she was born. She is very well and sleeping beautifully. I have begun writing ABC of relativity. The book about Apes is fascinating. They are just what a child of Kate’s age would be if it were an accomplished gymnast. They have just the same pleasures, and about the same intelligence, except that they can’t talk.
John loves his table and chair, but he commented on the absence of jug and basin, so he will be glad when they come.
If you care to phone to Hastings, Battersea 1638, you could arrange to bring new hood; but I think it may as well come by post or rail and save you bother. — Katie likes your photo and says “Mummeee” with great affection when she sees it. All well. All love, my Treasure.
