Edith BR’s fourth wife, Edith Finch (1900–1978), was an American who occasionally taught English at Bryn Mawr. She was the biographer of Wilfrid Scawen Blunt (London: J. Cape, 1938) and Carey Thomas (New York: Harper, 1947). For many years she shared a home with Lucy Donnelly, BR’s long-time friend. BR first met her in 1938 when she and Lucy were visiting England. BR lived near them in Pennsylvania from 1940 to 1943. They reconnected when he visited the United States in 1950. She moved to England not long after — the couple married in December 1952, and she became a British citizen in 1960 after renouncing her American citizenship.
