Dear Miss Fish

Thank you for your letter. I have had a long letter from Colette1 which makes it quite clear that I can do nothing to dissuade her from a complete breach. I enclose a short letter to her2 accepting the situation, which I have left open so that you can read it. Will you give it to her when you think fit. Her letter to me lists my sins, and they are many.

Please thank her for a pair of cuff-links, for which I am grateful.
